Archaeologists have discovered an intricately decorated blue room during excavations in central Pompeii in Italy. The room is believed to be an ancient Roman shrine known as a sacrarium. The blue color found in the discovery is rare and associated with environments of great decorative importance. The room’s walls feature depictions of female figures representing the four seasons, as well as allegories of agriculture and shepherding. The excavations in central Pompeii are part of a project to secure the archaeological park and protect its heritage. Other recent findings include children’s sketches depicting violent scenes of gladiators and hunters.
